Building a non-trivial front-end is a ton of work

Building a "simple" app doesn't seem too difficult at first, but the front-end alone is a deceptive amount of work.

Plus, all of this front-end work is typically done multiple times over

Products the size of AirBnB or Pinterest frequently maintain ~10 implementations of their client (for platforms like Google's AMP, Lite apps, Apple Watch, Google Assistant etc)

Similarly, the backend for even a simple app is very intimidating

Conclusion: most engineering time is not spent on whatever makes the product truly unique

Instead of 90% of engineering time being spent whatever functionality makes a product truly unique and differentiated, 90% is spent on functionality that is "common" / "commoditized" / "cookie cutter". 😢

What if all commoditized aspects of products—including all CRUD functionality, booking flows, media playback etc—were available automatically without needing to manually code them? (including multi-platform front-ends)
- (If you're familiar with Ruby on Rails scaffolding, and that were a 3 on a given scale, what would it look like to turn that up to 11?)
